Albany Organizations helping with voter registration

Albany organizations are helping people get ready for the upcoming general elections.

Family Literacy Connection and Albany Area Primary Healthcare held a drive Tuesday morning to teach citizens about voter registration. Each person was encouraged to ask questions about the voting process. They were then each shown how to register to vote.

Organizers say the participants also learned the importance of voting to be an active part in our community. "It's informative to let people know about what they want to vote for and whom they want to vote for. It's also important to just know the rights to vote," said Derrick Thomas, student. "You have the right, so learn how to."

Another Voter Registration drive will be held at 5:30 in the Litman Cathedral Fellowship Hall on West Whitney Avenue.

The last day to register for voting is Monday, October 6th. General Elections are November 4th.
