TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

WALB has learned a man pulled from the bottom of a motel pool in Tifton more than a week ago died.

Tifton Police Officers Joyce Clark and Steve Laska responded to the Travel Inn last Sunday night where 20-year old Andrew Pittman was swimming with his fiancee's younger brothers when he went under and didn't come up.

The officers wasted no time jumping into the pool still wearing all their gear and clothes.

"We were just doing what we had to do, and circumstances come and go and we did what I think any good police officer would do,” said Steve Laska, Tifton Police Officer.

"I wish this incident could've turned out a lot better for the family,” said Joyce Clark, Tifton Police Department.

The officers pulled Pittman out as paramedics arrived. They performed CPR and took Pittman to the hospital.

He died on Wednesday.
