VFD investigating weekend arson

Edgar Tooley Edgar Tooley
VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta Fire Department is investigating a weekend arson that left a home unlivable.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, firefighters were called out to 304 Webster Street for a fire. After putting the fire out, the arson investigator was able to determine that there were three separate fires in three separate rooms in the house.

"Once I entered the structure, I looked several places that seemed to be origins, areas of origins, of fires that were set. [It] looked like someone poured somethin' on the floor," said arson investigator Edgar Tooley.

The homeowners were not home at the time and no one was injured. Tooley said it's unclear if the suspects brought whatever may have been poured on the floor in with them or not because the homeowners had a lot of painting supplies inside that the suspects could have poured on the floor.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Lt. Edgar Tooley at the Valdosta Fire Department at 229-333-1835.
