How to report severe weather damage like a pro with a smartphone

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

If you see damage from severe weather, The National Weather Service wants to hear from you.

WALB Meteorologist Chris Zelman says it's important for folks always to be on alert when the weather gets bad.

"We have radar, we have all the technology, but every once in a while there will be a thunderstorm that may look marginally severe on radar, but in actuality it is severe. And that's where spotter information becomes very important," said Zelman.

The best and fastest way to contact the National Weather Service about severe weather is through twitter, @NWSTallahassee, using #TLHspotter.

Also, make sure you have our WALB app and the WALB Weather app downloaded to help you stay informed.
