Fire Department burns derelict houses as training

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Three vacant and derelict house will be set ablaze as the Albany Fire Department conducts arson training, while they also rid the city of sources for vagrants and gang members to gather.

The first vacant house is at 1304 East 1st Avenue. The 1300 Block of E. First Avenue will be closed as a safety precaution. Also, the 800 Block of Riley Street, the 500 Block of Dunes Avenue, the intersection of Bonnyview Avenue and Carroll Street, and the 1400 Block of Bonnyview Avenue will closed for this purpose.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid these areas.

AFD will video the burns and use the video to train arson investigators, in conjunction with the South Georgia Fire Investigators.
