Recycle unused electronics, pills at Saturday event

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful officials say rain or shine, their 11th Annual Go Green Event will go on as planned Saturday.

They'll be taking unwanted electronics for recycling and shredding documents behind the Civic Center from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Albany Dougherty Drug Unit will also be there to collect and dispose of unwanted medication.

Gently worn shoes will be collected for disaster victims.

They are not accepting flip flops.

"We're trying to make it real convenient for the citizens to come down and spend 30 minutes. They don't even have to get out of their vehicles," said Judy Bowles with Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful. "They just ride in, pop the trunk or just hand us what they have out the car window and they don't even have to get out of their vehicles."

Officials said people can leave medication in its container when dropping off.
