VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - South Georgia Medical Center is reminding men about the importance of prostate cancer screenings.
September is prostate cancer awareness month and the hospital hosted a free prostate screening event Thursday evening. The event was full, but the hospital's chief urologist recommends all men over 50 get screened once a year.
"There are many good studies demonstrating the decrease in prostate cancer mortality as a consequence of prostate cancer screening," said David Sule, chief urologist at South Georgia Medical Center.
