SWAIN CO., NC (WALB) - A south Georgia woman has been arrested in North Carolina after authorities said she tried to pay someone to murder her friend's parents.
Teresa Joy Johnson, 45, was charged with soliciting someone to murder.
Swain County, NC Sheriff Curtis Cochran said Johnson was caught in an audio recording in an attempt to hire a man in the Bryson City, NC area to kill an unidentified elderly couple in Cordele, GA.
The would-be hitman Johnson wanted to pay went to authorities after she first approached him.
Johnson was last seen in North Carolina just days before she was scheduled to go on trial in Mitchell County, GA.
Sheriff Cochran said she was also wanted in Crisp County.
