ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A former Dougherty County school employee is suing the system for discrimination.
Tracy Williams served as the personnel director for two years before being fired in 2011.
She filed a complaint before filing a discrimination lawsuit in March but the school system was served with the lawsuit a few weeks ago.
Williams said she was unlawfully dismissed because of her race.
"She alleges that members of the board made racial remarks to her and that kind of thing, but she doesn't anybody on the board who supposedly said these things," said DCSS Attorney Tommy Coleman.
He said the board voted to fire Williams after she had an argument with another employee at work and following multiple complaints against her.
School officials say they will send the lawsuit to their insurance carrier who will assist in providing a defense.
