Officials want kids buckled in properly

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A recent Triple-A survey says 3 out of 4 car seats are put in improperly. Officials say more than one thousand kids under 14 die every year in car crashes.

The Department of Public Health holds monthly classes to make sure parents know how to buckle their children in properly.

"Car seats do save lives. That's the purpose of having the classes so we can educate parents to make sure the childs are safe when they're riding in cars," said Child Passenger Safety Technician Artiszelle Johnson.

The department gives away five free car seats at each of those classes. You can apply to get one of those by calling 229-430-6280.
