LAKELAND, GA (WALB) - The Lanier County Family Connection program is trying to help collect suitcases for foster children in South Georgia.
The program is working with various clubs at schools throughout Lanier County to get an event set up to collect suitcases, but in the mean time suitcases can also be dropped off at the Lanier County Department of Family and Child Services office in Lakeland as well.
"[A] majority of the foster kids leave home with a trash bag," said Amy Lollis, with Lanier County Family Connection. "To be able to give them their own suitcase is just the least that our community could give back to them."
There is no word yet on when the clubs will be hosting their event to collect suitcases. The Lanier County DFCS office in Lakeland is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
