ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An East Albany woman wants to warn others about scammers making phone calls with the intent of stealing financial information.
Wendy Laramore got a phone call Wednesday from a man who said he was from a card services agency and offered to lower the rate on her credit card.
When the caller started asking her what kind of credit card she had and for her personal information, Wendy said she knew the call was a phishing scam.
She said she is worried other South Georgians might fall for the scam.
"[It's] desperation, the economy like it is. Everybody's looking for a deal, you know. Especially the elderly. I want to warn them," said Laramore.
She said when she challenged the caller, he cursed and hung up.
