VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The BARC Humane Society and Valdosta Humane Society are encouraging people to help them find homes for several dogs and cats this weekend.

The group was out at the Petsmart on Norman Drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday trying to get people to adopt the pets. They'll be back out from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

"Our goal is to get animals adopted and find them really good homes," explained Jackie Shoemaker, fundraising coordinator for BARC. "We take them in and give them medical attention, loving homes, until they can be adopted here at Petsmart."

The adoption fee is $160 and all of the pets have been spaid or neutered and are up to date on all of their shots.

The Barc Humane Society is also hosting a benefit dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4th in the VSU ballroom. Tickets are $100 per couple and include dinner, drinks, entry into a reverse drawing to be held at the dinner, and participation in the dinner's silent auction. For information about ordering tickets, call BARC at 229-244-8500.
