Grandparents celebrated at Albany magnet school

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Grandparents packed the gym of Lamar Reese Magnet School Friday morning to hear some Motown record music with their grandchildren.

Students and teachers put together skits and performances for this annual event to thank their grandparents for all that they do. Organizers say they chose this year's theme to be "Motown Records" to take the grandparents back in time.

"We wanted to have something that they would sit down and they would just take them back to when they were young adults and just having fun and kind of bridging the gap. Music is that universal language," said Reginald Sweet, Lamar Reese Parent Facilitator.

The event wrapped up with an invite to all the grandparents who have a singing talent to come up on stage. It's of Lamar Reese Magnet School's biggest events of the year.
