AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - A special ceremony to honor first responders and law enforcement was held today in Americus. Georgia's Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle visited the campus of Georgia Southwestern University for the annual September 11th ceremony.
Cagle thanked law enforcement and first responders for their service during this nation's day of mourning.
He says life is about service to others and loyalty to your calling. The service commemorates those who have paid the price of freedom.
"Freedom is never free. We want to say thank you to those that are making sure we are experiencing a society that we can be safe in and they are willing to serve," said Cagle.
Cagle and the Georgia Sheriff's Association worked together to hold this annual event.
