Study suggests doctors prescribe unnecessary antibiotics

A new study suggests many doctors unnecessarily prescribe multiple antibiotics when one would do the job.

That can breed dangerous bacteria that become resistant to treatment.

Albany pharmacist Ed Dozier says it's often good to wait and see if an infection clears up naturally before taking any anti-biotic.

“Most infections like minor ear infections, sore throats, sinusitis clear up spontaneously if you just give them enough time, generally they are cause from a viral infection, and an antibiotic is really not effective for a virus,” says Pharmacist Ed Dozier.

Dozier says if you suffer extreme symptoms. Such as blood or puss coming from your ear... You definitely need to see your doctor for a prescription
