Dougherty County school burglars caught on surveillance video, arrested

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County School Police arrest two teenagers they say were caught on camera stealing thousands of dollars worth of computers from  Magnolia Elementary School late Monday night.

They loaded dozens of computers and monitors on two carts and hauled them across the yard outside the school.

Investigators say 18-year-old Craig Coleman and a 16-year-old dropped some of the items in the street.

Police spotted it, traced it back to the school, and recognized Coleman from the surveillance video.

Dougherty County School Police Sgt. Derra Salter said "It was recovered that morning, and then it led up into the next day we served a search warrant at Mr. Coleman's house."

All the stolen equipment was recovered.

Coleman is in jail on two counts of burglary.

School police say all their school buildings, even closed ones, have full alarm and video surveillance systems.'
