Don't drink the water: Chlorine dumped into supply

Yvette Aehle, Airport manager Yvette Aehle, Airport manager
ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Southwest Georgia Regional Airport officials placed warning signs throughout the terminal Wednesday morning after chlorine was routed to the water supply of the building.

A construction company meant to put the chlorine in a new water line but accidentally opened the wrong line.

"When you put a new water line in you need to disinfect it, so you put chlorine in it to disinfect the line before putting water through it. Unfortunately the contractor opened the wrong water valve so it went into the existing water supply," said Airport manager Yvette Aehle.

The water quality company was testing the water this morning and will have results tomorrow.

Airport officials think the problem will be resolved in the next few days.
