Literacy is the week long focus at Moultrie Technical College

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Moultrie Technical College is reaching out to make sure adults can read.

Governor Nathan Deal proclaimed September 8th through 12th Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.

Moultrie Tech says the week emphasizes the importance of literary.

"We want our student to be able to work with their children, help them with their homework to learn about financial literacy and also health literacy is important. They need to know how to read prescriptions and take medication properly," said William Baillergeon.

Events this week will include an essay contest for adult education students at Moultrie Tech. They will also offer the GED practice test for free on September 22.

Moultrie Technical College Adult Education program serves adults in Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth.
