Grocery chain Publix has issued a recall "out of an abundance of caution" on its Publix brand Jalapeno Bagels after a report said they may contain pieces of glass and small stones.
The company said the bagels were sold in either the self-service bins or artisan cases in the bakery department.
The Publix Jalapeno Bagels were distributed to Publix store locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Publix stores in Tennessee and North Carolina were not impacted by this recall.
Publix said it was made aware of the potential product hazard by the supplier.
"As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all affected bakery departments," said Publix Media and Community Relations Director Maria Brous.
"To date, there have been no reported cases of illness or injury. Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund."
Publix customers with additional questions can call the Customer Care Department at 1-800-242-1227 or by visiting their website at www.publix.com.
