ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Two Dougherty County teachers, named in a free lunch fraud investigation, have been fired.
At Monday night's school board meeting, board members approved the termination of Yolanda Bryant and Stephanie Harvey. They were given notices after the Professional Standards Commission suspended their certificates for one year. Superintendent David Mosely says they will continue to monitor any accusations of dishonesty.
"We just have high expectations of everybody and we got to do our jobs well and we monitor our people," said Dr. David Mosely," Dougherty County Superintendent. "We monitor ourselves, we need a strong work force to do things the right way. The large portion of my job is to ensure that that happens."
The Lamar Reese Elementary school teachers are accused of providing false information to obtain free school meals in 2011.
