A crosswalk has been installed on a busy highway in Dawson, after several fatalities in that area.
Neighbors are happy to have this crosswalk on highway 520 near Pool Road on the north side of the city.
In February of 2013, 24 year-old Latasha Harvey and her four year-old daughter were hit by a truck and killed and Adrianna Glover was seriously injured.
Glover's cousin Franchescia Thornton says drivers still need to slow down.
"It really did a good cause with putting it up there. But a lot of people don't know what it means. And I also think they should put one on this end of the highway because these cars and stuff be going so fast and I don't want nobody else to get hurt. I think it's good, because a lot of people have gotten hurt on this highway," said Thornton.
City officials say the Department of Transportation did a survey in that area before the crosswalk was installed.
They encourage folks who live in the area to use it and make sure to push the button to activate the warning lights.
