TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Some people spent part of their Labor Day holiday helping save lives.
The American Red Cross held a blood drive at the Tifton Mall on Monday, September 1. The blood supply usually drops during the summer and around holidays.
September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and a pint of blood can go a long way.
"You never know if you or your family might need blood. Our universal donors are O- negative and O-negative can give to anybody and our most common type is O-positive, but we need all types," said Amanda Hall, Blood Collection Technician.
The Red Cross gave away free movie tickets and other gifts to those who donated blood.
