ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol Officials in Albany say the Labor Day travel period has been good so far.
Officials say traffic has been moderate and that everyone has been obeying the speed limit. They say DUI's have also been moderate. Officials are hoping that traffic stays this way throughout the weekend.
"But of course during the end of the holiday period individuals do tend to want to celebrate a little bit more because it is the ending of the period," said Master Trooper Darryl Benton. "So, we try to get out and enforce it, we try to have road checks to make people understand that we're going to be visible. We're going to be out enforcing the laws and we just want everyone to be safe."
Officials say they will continue to be out in full force. The Labor Day Travel period ends September 1st.
