Surveillance video leads law enforcement to suspected thieves

CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Surveillance footage helps investigators arrest people suspected of stealing from a church parking lot. Footage from First Baptist Church in Cordele shows a man breaking into a van.

The Crisp County Sheriff's office put out a statewide lookout on the vehicle. Deputies in Butts County spotted the car and chased it.

They arrested the passengers after the car crashed.

Authorities say surveillance footage is crucial in solving many crimes.

You're able to give out vehicle descriptions. You're able to give out physical descriptions and it is just viable evidence that can be used not only in the prosecution but in evidence in catching them," said Sgt. Ben Bray at the Crisp County Sheriff's Office.

Crisp County is currently getting warrants to extradite Oreste Lafontant, Charles Thomas, and Ladarius Blue from Butts County.
