Fatalities reported in Crisp, Sumter

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - There was a fatality in Sumter County overnight, and a second one in Crisp County.

There was a two car wreck at Coney Road and Milepond in Crisp County, which happened just after 8:00 am Friday.

A gold Honda driven by Aubrey Bellamy, 29 was coming west on Milepond, while a red truck driven by Charles Samuel Miller, 56, from Cordele was heading north on Coney. 

Troopers say the car failed to yield and hit the red truck. The truck overturned and the driver was killed. He wasn't wear his seat belt, but wasn't thrown out of the car. 

Bellamy and three kids in her car had slight injuries, and were in car seats. They were all taken to the hospital.

Miller was about half a mile from the family farm. Troopers say the SCRT team is out investigating this fatal collision.

In Sumter County, an 86-year-old man with dementia was struck and killed as he walked down US 280, half a mile west of Americus.

Troopers say that Charlie Williams, dressed all in black, got out of bed about 3:30 in the morning, and started walking down the highway. He was struck by a 2005 Crown Victoria driven by 28 year old Robert Antonio Hubbard of Americus, who did not see Williams. 

Troopers say this was a tragic accident, and no charges will be filed.
