HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

A 24-year-old Spanish teacher at Hilton Head Island High School was sentenced to up to six years in prison on Thursday.

Margaret LaMantia pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disseminating harmful material to a minor.

On December 10, a 16-year-old boy told his father that he bought marijuana at the request of his teacher. She also sent the student a provocative photograph. While being questioned by investigators, LaMantia confessed.

Judge Brooks Goldsmith sentenced LaMantia to a youthful offender sentence, which is an indeterminate sentenced of up to six years in the South Carolina Dept. of Corrections.
