LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -
Lexington County Sheriff's Department fugitive investigators in cooperation with the Lexington County Clerk of Court's Office arrested a 46-year-old man who allegedly fled to Colorado after he failed to make $172,718 in child support payments in Lexington County.
Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty said investigators on Tuesday, August 26 returned Roger Dale Deal, Jr., 46, to Lexington County. He was being held on a $150,000 bond on a criminal charge that he failed to financially support a child..
Lexington County Clerk of Court Beth Carrigg said a Lexington County family court judge on Thursday ruled that a hearing concerning the family court bench warrant issued for Deal after Deal failed to make child support payments will not be held until Deal resolves his criminal charge.
A family court judge issued a new order to Deal on December 15, 2008, ordering Deal to make child support payments in Lexington County, Carrigg said. Deal failed to make child support payments even though Deal was capable of earning a livelihood and failed without just cause to financially support his child.
Deal waived extradition and was transported to Lexington County from the Logan County Detention Center in Sterling, Colo.
