Exterminator sentenced in pesticide fraud case

MACON, GA (WALB) - An Alabama exterminator has been sentenced after pleading guilty to unlawfully applying pesticides at more than a dozen nursing homes across South Georgia.

Steven A. Murray, 54, of Pelham, AL, and his company, Bio-Tech Management Inc., were sentenced Wednesday in Federal Court in Macon.

Murry was sentenced to two years in prison, one year of supervised release and to pay a fine of $7,500. Bio-Tech was sentenced to three years of probation and to pay a fine of $50,000.

Murray pleaded guilty to unlawful use of pesticides, false statements, and mail fraud in connection with the misapplication of pesticides in Georgia nursing homes.
