Check presented to Willson Hospice will help patients in need

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Marathon gives an area hospice a boost.

Marathon organizers and race sponsor, Mars Inc. presented Willson Hospice House a ceremonial check for $20,000 Tuesday.

The money was raised by the 8th annual Albany Marathon in March.

Willson Hospice leaders say they're thankful for the community support.

“It's been so overwhelming. That is just one wonderful part of being in southwest Georgia. We have a beautiful facility here, the Willson Hospice house was built by our community,” said Jennifer Stephens.

The money will help patients with terminal illnesses. The Albany Marathon consistently donate funds to the Willson Hospice House.

According to Albany Marathon race director, $165,00 dollars have been donated in the eight years of the marathon.

The next race for the Albany Marathon will be on March 7, 2015.
