Thomas University goes 'to the dogs'

(National Dog Day) (National Dog Day)
THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The Thomas University Library will go to the dogs today, as it hosts a celebration of National Dog Day, with a lecture about therapy dogs and dogs available for adoption.

National Dog Day was founded in 2004 to show appreciation for dogs and their connection to humans. As part of the celebration, the TU Library will hold a TU Talk at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 26 in the Campus Center on the Main Campus.

The speaker will be Leigh Ann Falconer, who will bring therapy dogs, talk about their training and discuss the Hospice Therapy Dog Program in Thomasville.

From noon to 4:30 p.m., the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society will have dogs available for adoption in the TU Library. These dogs can be adopted for the special rate of $25 each instead of the usual $100 fee.

The fee includes micro-chipping and spaying or neutering. Those who are not adopting are still welcome to visit, and donations of animal food will be accepted.
