ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Housing Authority officials say repairs are underway at the home in the 900 block of Holloway Avenue.

They say a loose connection in a water pipe in the attic caused the ceiling to collapse onto 28-year-old Chussey Evans. She suffered neck and back injuries. The water line has been repaired. Workers are still cleaning the unit and putting in new sheet rock.

"We have already done a replacement of heating and ventilation systems in a little over two thirds of the apartments in the complex.,” said Dan McCarthy, Albany Housing Authority Executive Director. “We just recently issued a balance to do the contract on the property. So, once they do that the pipe that this is involved with is going to be replaced anyways."

Housing Authority officials say this was an isolated incident. They put the family in a hotel and hope to have them back in their home Wednesday.
