Dougherty Co. road resurfacing approved

Dougherty County commissioners gave the go ahead for a road resurfacing project Monday.

The county plans to repave about 10 miles of roads in 2014, including Sweetbriar Road from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Nadina Road.

The county matches SPLOST funding with a local maintenance improvement grant from the state to repave county roads each year.

"As a county for economic development the better your roads are the nicer they are, the more attractive they are to developers and those that will bring business into the county," said Public Works Director Chucky Mathis.

The project will come before commissioners one more time before it goes out to bid in 2015.
