VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Sunday night just before 11 p.m. at the Ora Lee West Housing Complex at 610 East Ann Street.

VPD said during a press conference Monday morning that 24 year-old Valdosta resident Jimmy Brown was shot.

"We know it's one of two motives. It's either simply an argument or it was involving a gang issue," said Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress. "All I can tell you is we're looking for a male offender, and I'll leave it at that for right now. But, we do have a good description of somebody we're lookin' for."

Brown, who is not a resident of the complex, was outside the complex on East Ann Street.

Valdosta Police Department Officers, Detectives, and Crime Laboratory Personnel responded to the scene. Officers spoke with multiple people who may have witnessed the incident. Investigators have surveillance video of the scene and are examining it.

Brown is currently being treated for his injuries at South Georgia Medical Center and was listed in critical but stable condition as of Monday evening.

VPD wants anyone having any information regarding this incident to call the Valdosta Police Department at 229-293-3145 or the Crime Tip Line at 229-293-3091.
