ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany cub scout troop is recruiting members using some summer fun.

A cub scout roundup was held at First United Methodist Church for Cub Scout Pack 64. This year's theme is "Water Wars." Returning cub scouts got a chance to bring a friend and play with water guns and also watch their leader participate in the ice bucket challenge. Scout leaders say being in cub scouts teaches them leadership skills and exposes them to new things.

"The biggest thing the boys like is when they go on camp outs and they get to be out and learn new things that way,” said Ben Anderson, Pack 64 Den Leader. “We take what is called a "big trip" every year and go some place special. We've been to Zoo Atlanta for an overnight trip. We've been to the Kennedy Space Center, big things like that, they like doing that."

Cub scout season for Pack 64 starts today through May. Scouts in the pack are in first through fifth grade. You can join Cub Scout Pack 64 by contacting First United Methodist Church.
