COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Nearly two years ago, we introduced you to a young boy named Richard Culliver. He had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

Christmas 2012 was what many people thought would be his last time opening presents under the tree, but Richard was not going to give up that easy.

In May 2014, we met up with the 8-year-old at a park in Lexington. Richard had beaten the odds. He was recovering from his brain tumor, and things were looking good.

Now, the 9-year-old is dealing with another battle. He has another brain tumor, and this time, it's taking him quick.

On the Richard's Journey Facebook page, Richard's mom, Stephanie McMillian, posted that Richard has been helping to plan his funeral.

His mom also posted several pictures from his first date. He asked a girl out and took her on a candlelight picnic, boat ride, limo ride, and even ended the night with a kiss on the cheek.

Richard's family also had professional family pictures taken, and received a visit from Cocky and the University of South Carolina cheerleaders.

Friends of the family have set up a few  fundraisers for Richard and his family.

Saturday, Aug. 23, there will be a yard sale, lemonade stand, face painting, and more. It starts at 8 a.m. in the parking lot across from Mirror Image Salon near the Lexington Courthouse on N. Church Street in Lexington.

Rockin' for Richard will be held Sunday, Aug. 24. The fundraiser will feature several local bands.

There's no cost to attend the event, but donations are appreciated.

Rockin' for Richard will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Moonshiners Bar & Grill on Old Chapin Road in Lexington.

There are other fundraisers set up, including an online site where you can donate to Richard's Journey.

A Meal Train has also been set up for people to help donate food for the family.
