Chehaw staff members take ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Members of the Chehaw Park staff are some of the latest south Georgians to take part of the ALS Ice Bucket challenge. They even got some of the animals involved.

Since July 29th, the ALS Association reports at least $22 million in donations from the online sensation to help battle the debilitating disease.

Chehaw's Executive Director Doug Porter says his workers were happy to help others.

"It's kind of amazing that something as silly as dumping a bucket of ice water on your head could take off like that," Porter said. "I think that's part of the charm of it. It's unusual. It lets people be on camera, you know, be famous for five seconds, and it worked out really well and we were able to contribute some money to charity."

The Chehaw folks also challenged some of their friends to get involved. To view the entire video click here
