Arrest made in Enigma home invasion

ENIGMA, GA (WALB) - Berrien County authorities said Wednesday 17 year-old Svante Arrihenius Williams, of Alapaha, was arrested August 15th in connection with a violent August 8th home invasion in Enigma.

19 year-old Kayla Walker and her 10 month-old son were at their home when Walker heard a noise at her back door. Williams and another man pushed their way into her home, one of them beat Walker in the face several times.

She was able to grab that man by the testicles, causing him to fall over on her. She then grabbed him by the throat and began choking him. She also hit the man several times with a hammer and eventually grabbed a shotgun she had in her home and pointed it at them, at which point the two men took off.

Williams is a student at Berrien County High School and was identified as a suspect after Walker picked him out of a photo line up multiple times. On Friday the 15th, Berrien County Sheriff's deputies coordinated with the high school's school resource officer to bring Williams into custody.

"We had actually gotten the school resource officer to bring him to a location that we agreed upon," explained Berrien County Sheriff Anthony Heath.

Sheriff Heath said Williams is not giving investigators much information as to who the person he was with is. "If [anyone] is familiar with Mr. Williams and who he spends a lot of time with on the outside," said Heath, "are lines are open."

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Berrien County Sheriff's Office at 229-686-2071.
