The Wild Life Resources Division met in Lee County to talk with the community about a new 10-year Deer Management Plan. The plan is a way to properly manage the deer population which is a vital resource. Organizers discussed issues like population densities, seasons and bag limits, hunting methods, education and outreach.
“The ten year plan is basically how the department plans to approach deer hunting for the next ten years,” said Brent Howze, Wildlife Biologist.
The annual economic impact of deer hunting in Georgia exceeds $890 million and supports more than 11,000 jobs.
