Darlington Police arrest suspect in deadly shooting

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting in Darlington Tuesday night.

The shooting occurred at about 9:48 p.m. on Kirven Street, according to Darlington City Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Nelson. Gary Evans Walker, 43, of Darlington, was found dead at the scene, according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee. He died from an apparant gunshot wound, and was found lying in the middle of Kirven Street.

Darlington Police arrested 24-year-old Joey Latwan Gibson in connection with the shooting, Sgt. Nelson confirmed. More arrests may be made in connection with the incident.

Bloodhound units were out searching for the shooting suspect within the city limits of Darlington Tuesday night.

The police department is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 843-398-4026.

One month ago, a 56-year-old woman was found dead in a car in Darlington. The woman's death was ruled a homicide, and Darlington County Sheriff's Office is still investigating that incident.
