Sherwood Christian Academy students leave their mark on new building

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Sherwood Christian Academy students got a chance to leave their own marks on the school's new campus Tuesday.

Elementary and upper-school students came together on Old Pretoria Road at the construction site of the new building.

Students lined up with Sharpies to leave their autographs on a beam that will hold up the new school.

Headmaster Brian Dougherty said the kids are excited to become a lasting part of this project.

"I told them all that 'You now are part of God's project," said Dougherty. "And you're going to be able to say, years from now, 'I signed that building!''"

"I think it's real exciting to have the younger kids right by the older kids. It's going to be a lot of fun," said student Ashlyn Gregg.

The new campus is scheduled to be ready by August 2015.
