GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

When Jena Wittner saw the storefront, she said she had to go inside.

"Very different things, and that's what I like about it," Wittner said.

And shopping at Altar'd State in Haywood Mall in Greenville put her in a different frame of mind.

"A lot of little things that say real sweet sayings," she said.

She likes what the store offers, but says what she found turned out to be priceless.

"I look for bargains. I'm a bargain shopper," Wittner said. "It warms my heart that part of it goes to someone who really needs it."

On Mission Monday at the new store, at the end of the month, 10 percent of what's sold goes to local charity.

"You're actually shopping for good; you're standing out for good with us," said Britney Cronin, the store manager, also known as the brand ambassador. "We sell like Bohemian style, romantic, a little bit of modern classic."

The retail diplomat said the store owners came up with the "shop for a purpose" concept, and every two months, a new charity is chosen.

"They saw that we're really lacking as a retail industry in giving back to the local community," Cronin said.

In the dressing room area, there's a prayer book where customers can write well-wishes. And Wittner said it's a shopping experience that's good for her wallet and her soul.

"This is probably the best thing that's happened to this mall in a long time," Wittner said.

The store manager said, in September and October. money will go to a charity that focuses on breast cancer awareness.
