Jury selection continues in APS cheating trial

ATLANTA (CBS) -

Jury selection continued on Monday for a dozen former Atlanta Public School educators who are accused of cheating on student standardized testing.

The cheating allegedly occurred in 2009.

CBS46 checked with the court on Monday and were told that prospective jurors had filled out forms, and the prosecution and defense are pouring over the answers.

The actual jury selection is expected to take a while.

Former Atlanta Public Schools superintendent Dr. Beverly Hall was also charged but will not stand trial due to her health.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter said, however, that Hall would eventually face the charges so long as her health allowed her to do so.

The original indictment accused 35 educators of cheating, but 22 of those educators took plea deals to avoid jail time.
