ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A medical examiner continued her testimony Monday as she was questioned about how an Albany business owner died.

Maryanne Kraft, a medical examiner for the GBI, testified that Walter Phelps died from a pulmonary emboli, or blood clots, caused by a gunshot wound.

67-year-old Phelps was shot in his hardware store on July 3rd, 2010 during an armed robbery. He died a month later. Jordan Harris is on trial, accused of pulling the trigger.

The defense questioned the medical examiner, saying other things can cause a pulmonary emboli.

"Cause of death was pulmonary emboli, due to a complication of the gunshot wound to the torso. Therefore the cause of death is the gunshot wound to the torso," said Dr. Kraft.

Harris is also accused of using Phelps' credit card to go on a shopping spree.

Ezekiel James is also charged in the robbery and murder of Walter Phelps. He's accused of driving the getaway car.
