COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Almost two years after a mistrial was declared in a Columbus murder trial, possible jurors headed back to the courtroom for a new trial for Kareem Lane.

Lane was arrested in 2010 after DNA evidence was found on the murder weapon that killed Muscogee County Superintendent Jim Burns in 1992

Lane, who was 17 years old at the time, is accused of stabbing Burns in the back with a hunting knife as he slept next to his wife inside their Columbus home.

In September 2012, Judge Bobby Peters declared a mistrial due to a hung jury.

Jury selection starts at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
