Arrest made in East Albany store counterfeit raid

An East Albany store owner has been charged after police seized thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit items.

36-year old Antonio Richardson, who manages  Solo's Sportswear and Accessories on East Oglethorpe Boulevard.

Richardson was charged with misdemeanor sale of counterfeit or forged items, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Police say they seized counterfeit clothes, watches, shoes, and movies.  Investigators say it's important to protect manufacturers from their items being counterfeited.

Dougherty County Police Sgt. Ted Wertz said "It's kind of along the lines of shoplifting.  It costs us all money.  It makes items more expensive.  The companies go through the expense of tracking this stuff down.  And it just costs us all money."

Richardson was released from the Dougherty County jail on bond, but his store was not open Monday.
