Reward offered in Patten Seed Company robbery

Chris Burns Chris Burns
LAKELAND, GA (WALB) -

Patten Seed Company in Lakeland is offering a $750 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people who stole around $4,000 worth of pecan products from the company's coolers.

The robbery happened sometime between 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th and 3 p.m. on Friday, August 8th, which is when the products were discovered missing.

"Lakeland's a pretty small town," said Chris Burns, with the Patten Seed Company. "We feel that there's someone out there that knows something, that has seen something. Perhaps they didn't know what they noticed or have seen relates back to this theft."

Chocolate covered pecans, roasted and salted pecans, and chocolate pecan clusters were stolen. Burns says some of the stolen items are not items they produce themselves, which means the company will be out of those products until cooler season later in the year.

Lakeland Police do have a list of people they are talking to.

"Police do have a list of everyone who has keys to the facility. The facility was not broken into, so someone entered the facility using a key," said Burns.

Burns pointed out though that it's not known yet whether the key used came from one of the key holders or whether someone else may have gotten hold of a key. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Patten seed company at 229-482-3131 or David Warren with the Lakeland Police Department at 229-569-5187.
