COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A home is a total loss after a fire swept through most of the structure Sunday afternoon in Columbia.

Crews were called to a home on Quail Lane near Trenholm Rd and found the home heavily involved, Brick Lewis with the Columbia Fire Department said.

Lewis said no injuries were reported, but firefighters had to deal with extreme temperatures both inside and outside the fire.

"Today we witnessed a neighborhood come together and take care of one of their neighbors that was in distress as well as members of CFD and CPD," Lewis wrote on the Columbia Fire Department Facebook page.

"We would like to thank all those who took care of the family and us: especially the young child who brought popsicles to our firefighters."

A cause has not been determined.
