Roast raises money for ASU students

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany State students will benefit from an event Friday night that both lampooned and honored a former dean.

Dr. Leroy Bynum returned to campus as the guest of honor at a Roast and Toast Gala to raise money for a scholarship fund named in his honor.

One former colleague was especially looking forward to the roast. Dr. T. Marshall Jones said, "We had a previous experience where he did a roast of me, and so now it's time for to give payback, and so I've prepared a little something special for him this time. And I'll do that first, and then we'll give him the other accolades afterwards."

Dr. Bynum served ASU for 22 years before recently taking over as Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at The College Saint Rose in Albany, New York.
