VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Astro exterminating in Valdosta helped raise awareness for ALS on Friday.

Around two dozen employees, friends, and family took the ice bucket challenge Friday afternoon in support of a fellow employee who was diagnosed with ALS last year.

Participants donated money for each bucket that was dumped and Astro is planning to challenge their other offices to also do the ice bucket challenge and help raise money for ALS.

"Very overwhelmed. I loved working here," said Rene Jackson, for whom the event was held. "I loved the staff. It was very hard retiring away from here."

So far, Astro has raised around $2,500 for the ALS foundation. For more information about ALS, or how you can donate to the ALS foundation, visit www.alsa.org.
